Super Mario World

Super Mario World is a 1990 platformer developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. As a launch title for the SNES, it showcased the console's 16-bit capabilities and quickly became one of the most celebrated games in the Mario franchise.

The game features 96 exits across 72 levels set in the expansive Dinosaur Land. New power-ups include the Cape Feather, which grants Mario the ability to glide and spin attack, and Yoshi, a rideable dinosaur companion whose colored shells unlock unique abilities. Secret exits and hidden paths lead to the challenging Star World and Special World.

Mario and Luigi team up to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser and his seven Koopalings. The overworld map offers multiple routes and non-linear progression, letting players choose their path through the kingdom. The Select button lets you switch between Mario and Luigi mid-game, each with slightly different stats.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, Super Mario World set new standards for level design and exploration in the platformer genre. It remains the best-selling SNES game with over 20 million copies sold worldwide and continues to influence modern platformers decades after its release.
