Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES, 1991)
📖 介紹
Master the notoriously brutal Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on SNES. Guide Arthur through gothic hordes, collect armor upgrades, and survive the legendary double-playthrough to rescue Princess Prin-Prin.
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the 1991 SNES sequel to Capcom's classic Ghosts 'n Goblins and the first entry in the series built exclusively for 16-bit hardware. It pushed the Super Nintendo's graphical capabilities to new heights with richly detailed sprites, parallax scrolling, and a dark gothic aesthetic that set it apart from its 8-bit predecessor.
The game introduces several new mechanics that elevate the series, including a double jump ability and vertical scrolling sections that expand the platforming experience beyond the original's horizontal-only design. Players collect armor upgrades ranging from basic armor to the powerful Golden Armor, switch between a rotating arsenal of weapons, and face the series' infamous difficulty — completing the game once only reveals the false ending, demanding a second full playthrough to unlock the true conclusion.
You control Sir Arthur, the brave knight sworn to protect Princess Prin-Prin. When the demon king Sardius kidnaps her once again, Arthur must battle through hordes of undead monsters, demonic creatures, and towering bosses across haunted castles, cursed forests, and underworld realms steeped in dark fantasy lore.
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts remains one of the most celebrated and feared SNES titles, praised for its tight controls, Mari Yamaguchi's haunting soundtrack, and unrelenting challenge. It cemented the Ghosts 'n Goblins series as a cornerstone of retro gaming and continues to be referenced as a benchmark for difficulty in the platformer genre.
