Ghost Pilots
📖 介紹
1991 SNK vertical shooter for Neo Geo MVS featuring 7 stages, two-player simultaneous mode, large sprites, detailed aircraft, and early hardware capabilities.
Ghost Pilots is a 1991 vertically scrolling shooter developed and published by SNK for the Neo Geo MVS arcade system. As one of SNK's earliest shoot-'em-ups for the platform, it helped establish the Neo Geo's reputation for impressive sprite work and smooth gameplay.
Players pilot fighter aircraft through seven stages, utilizing a unique Power Meter system where collected power-ups gradually increase weapon strength across three levels. Controls include a joystick for movement, Button A for the main weapon, Button B for bombs/special attacks, Button C to adjust scroll speed, and Button D to select different weapons. Environmental hazards such as anti-aircraft guns and dynamic weather conditions add strategic depth to the shooting action.
The game features detailed aircraft designs and large, animated sprites, with no overarching narrative beyond the mission to clear each stage. Two-player simultaneous mode allows friends to team up and tackle the challenges together.
As an early Neo Geo title, Ghost Pilots showcased the hardware's capabilities with smooth sprite scaling and rotation effects during boss battles. Its combination of tight controls, varied weapon selection, and atmospheric hazards has made it a notable entry in SNK's arcade library and a favorite among retro shoot-'em-up enthusiasts.
