Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally
📖 介紹
Nintendo's pseudo-3D rally racer for FDS features sprite scaling, realistic physics, 8 courses with weather and terrain, plus 2-player split-screen mode.
Developed by Nintendo's R&D3 team, Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally is a pioneering pseudo-3D racing game for the Famicom Disk System. Released in 1988, it uses sprite scaling and clever perspective tricks to simulate depth, making it one of the earliest attempts at 3D-style racing on the platform.
Players compete across 8 championship courses with varying weather conditions (day, night, rain) and terrain types (asphalt, dirt, snow). The game includes a two-player split-screen versus mode, a rarity for FDS titles. Controls are straightforward: steer with left/right, accelerate with A, brake with B, and switch views with Select.
Notable for its advanced physics system, the game accounts for tire grip, weight transfer, and momentum—unusually sophisticated for an 8-bit racer. The soundtrack, composed by Akito Nakatsuka, leverages the FDS's enhanced audio capabilities, delivering a rich chiptune score that stands out.
Though overshadowed by later racing games, 3D Hot Rally remains a technical showcase of the Famicom Disk System's capabilities and a must-play for retro racing enthusiasts.
