📖 介紹
Columns (1990) is Sega's iconic puzzle game for the Genesis, where players match colorful gems to form lines. A pioneering title in the falling block genre.
Columns, released in 1990 by Sega for the Genesis, is one of the earliest falling block puzzle games. It was created as a direct response to Tetris, introducing a unique gem-matching mechanic that set it apart in the arcade-style puzzle market.
Gameplay centers on rotating and aligning columns of three gems to create lines of three or more matching colors—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Modes include Flash Columns for timed challenges, Traditional for endless play, and a two-player versus mode for competitive fun.
The game is purely mechanical, featuring no characters or story. Players focus entirely on strategic gem placement and quick thinking to clear blocks and rack up high scores.
Columns became a cornerstone of Sega's puzzle lineup, spawning multiple sequels and appearing on numerous platforms. Its addictive simplicity and competitive modes helped cement its status as a retro classic, influencing later tile-matching games.
